Raquel Strong, a teacher in the Dixie community, has compiled photos, brochures, newspaper clippings, personal histories and essays from former students into an unpublished work entitled Dixie Attendance Center. While the volume is a celebration of the school's centennial, it also provides a glimpse into the history of the Dixie community at large.
Raquel recently shared an electronic version of her manuscript with the Hattiesburg Area Historical Society. Per her request, we're making a copy available to our web visitors for a limited time. A printed version is on file in our library.
